The transformation will be evaluated through teacher observations, formative assessment, growth data through STAR Reading, a rubric specific to Talk to the Text.

 

 

Teacher Observations

 

 

I often tell my students they are being assessed every second of everyday. Teachers best tool is observation of their students.  I can quickly tell if students are understanding the lesson: are their eyes on me, do they nod theirs heads, are they sitting upright; if not, I need to adjust to help students learn effectively.  

 

 

Formative Assessment

 

 

Formative assessment will be used to check students understanding along the way.  The formative assessments I will use are bell-ringers, quick-checks, informal quizzes, and short answers to monitor students progress towards the main goal of each unit taught.

 

 

Growth Data Star Reading

 

 

I am fortunate to have a literacy coach and access to school wide assessments to track students reading comprehension level.  With the processes applied the data should show an increase in students grade equivalency.

Talk To The Text Rubric
